Over fifty museums house an extraordinary heritage and a wide range of offerings, characterized both by the quality of the exhibited works and the diversity of themes and historical periods covered, ranging from prehistory to the present day. The Grand Hotel Majestic già Baglioni, is strategically located to reach the main points of interest in just a few minutes.
A few steps from the hotel is the Civic Archaeological Museum
that was born in 1881 from the fusion of two previous museums: the ancient University Museum and the small Municipal Museum that kept a part of the Palagi collection and the grave goods of the Certosa. But above all the Archaeological Museum was created to house the many archaeological finds, ranging from the early Iron Age to the Roman era, that were coming to light in those years.
Just a few meters away is the picturesque Palazzo Archiginnasio
a building dating back to the 16th century that once served as the seat of the University of Bologna. Inside this historic palace, you can admire an original portico adorned with thousands of ancient coats of arms, created by students, priors, and deans of the University. In addition to this spectacular portico, Palazzo Archiginnasio also houses the municipal library, which boasts a rich collection of ancient volumes. Another must-see attraction inside the building is the wooden anatomical theater, dating back to the 17th century, used for anatomy lessons.
Continuing the walk for a few minutes, you will arrive at MAMbo, the Museum of Modern Art in Bologna,
located in a converted bread oven. Inside this museum, the story of Italian art from the 20th century and recent decades is told, giving space to artistic research and experimentation. MAMbo also includes the Morandi Museum, which houses the largest and most significant public collection dedicated to the painter Giorgio Morandi, as well as the Morandi House.
Still in the heart of the historic center stands Palazzo Albergati
with its imposing facade and frescoes dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Currently, this treasure trove of beauty hosts the exhibition "Timeless Time," which showcases the iconic and timeless shots of photographer Vincent Peters. A selection of black and white works in which light takes center stage in defining the emotions and telling the stories of the subjects portrayed and their intimate ability to reflect beauty.
