The Archiginnasio Palace is one of the most significant buildings in Bologna. Located in the heart of its historic centre, it has housed the Municipal Library since 1838.
The Palace was built by Cardinal Borromeo between 1562 and 1563 on a project by the architect Antonio Morandi known as the Terribilia as the seat of the University (until 1803).
Famous is the Anatomical Theatre, built in carved wood by Antonio Levante in 1637 for the teaching of anatomy.
This magnificent palace is just a few minutes walk from the Grand Hotel Majestic già Baglioni.
