110 years of history: the Grand Hotel Majestic “già Baglioni” celebrates a symbolic anniversary of Bolognese hospitality

15-02-2022 | Style & Culture

In the heart of the Belle Époque, on February 15, 1912, the Hotel Baglioni, now the Grand Hotel Majestic “già Baglioni”, opened its doors. The initiative was born from the intuition of entrepreneur Guido Baglioni, who the previous year had acquired the elegant spaces of the ancient Archbishop's Seminary, an eighteenth-century building built on the historic residences of the Ariosti and Arrigoni families. Since then, the hotel has become a benchmark for prestigious hospitality and a protagonist in Bologna's cultural and social life.

In 2022, the Grand Hotel Majestic “già Baglioni” celebrated its 110th anniversary, reaching a milestone that confirms its role as the only five-star luxury hotel in Emilia-Romagna. To celebrate this important anniversary, a volume dedicated to its history has been published, retracing the evolution of the palace and its deep connection to the city: always a symbol of the excellence of Italian hospitality, the Majestic has welcomed prominent figures, hosted cultural events, and represented a true home in the heart of Bologna. A place capable of spanning over a century of history, preserving intact the charm, elegance and prestige that distinguish it.

The celebrations were enriched by a calendar of special events, including the theatrical performance "Once upon a time there was the Grand Hotel Majestic già Baglioni" with Giorgio Borghetti and the concert-show "110 of these years", a musical journey through the Belle Époque. Two events designed to pay homage to the history of the Majestic and its deep connection to the city of Bologna.
