The Grand Hotel Majestic “già Baglioni” in Bologna, a treasure trove of art and history with lots of stories to tell, offers guests a truly immersive experience in the heart of the city. All this is possible thanks to the hotel’s strong ties with the local area and collaboration with the most important national and international partners. Today we discover how the Majestic exploits the synergies it has developed over the years, because only by working together is it possible to improve day by day.
A hotel that belongs to many families: memberships
Over the years the Majestic has joined a number of bodies and associations that stand out for their constant pursuit of quality: like exclusive clubs, they reward care for guests and the ability to build experiences around their needs. Since 1995, the hotel has been a member of Leading Hotels of the World, one of the most important luxury hotel collections in the world, famous for its painstaking selection of the places it works with and for the exceptionally high standards required to join it. The Grand Hotel Majestic “già Baglioni” is also a member of American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts which admits to its ranks only the most prestigious hotels according to the most rigid criteria and offers special benefits to Platinum and Centurion card holders.
The Majestic has always been in tune with the luxury travel agency network VIRTUOSO, and is a member of the prestigious Traveller Made®, a network and exclusive community of travel designers, of the Signature Travel Network, of independent travel and agencies in the luxury sector, and of SELECT Hotels & Resort di Internova, specialised in unique tourist experiences. The Majestic is also one of the hotels recommended by the Andrew Harper network and Tauck, an operator specialised in guided tours and visits for small groups of American tourists.
The Majestic is housed in a sixteenth-century palazzo whose history interweaves with that of Bologna. The building preserves the remains of Roman paving, and on the piano nobile it is possible to admire the first frescoes to be painted by the Carraccis. It was in the hotel, in 1914, that Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, the founder of Futurism, organised his celebrated exhibition-cum-blitz. This is why the Majestic is part of two networks of the most beautiful historical hotels: Historic Hotels Then and Now and Locali Storici d’Italia (Historical Places of Italy), an association sponsored by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities.
Partners and collaborators that share the Majestic’s vision
All the Majestic’s offers are designed to allow guests to enjoy unique, bespoke experiences, courtesy of an extensive network of partnerships and collaborations that is growing year by year.
The Majestic is a member of Federalberghi, for example, a guarantee of the quality of its hospitality.
The Hotel’s restaurant, I Carracci, is mentioned as a point of excellence in Bologna in the Michelin Guide. It serves dishes paired with a selection of top-quality labels from a special extra virgin olive oil list created in collaboration with sommelier Antonietta Mazzeo, technical expert taster registered in the National Register of Olive Oil Tasters, founder of the projects www.vinoediam.com and Olioè, which promotes extra virgin olive oil, a key ingredient of Mediterranean cooking, in all the finest restaurants.
For some years now, the Majestic, the only luxury 5-star hotel in the Emilia Romagna region, has been partner of Etiquette Academy Italy, the first Italian school of manners, business etiquette and professional image, and organises annual workshops and events to promote the culture of good manners in professional and business relations.
The hotel’s collaborations extend to the wellness sector: in addition to a Health&Wellness centre complete with sauna, Turkish bath and emotional shows, it also boasts a gym fitted with next generation Technogym equipment: the whole Wellness area has been chosen as one of Technogym’s "Top Locations". Guests may also book massages in their rooms and treatments courtesy of [ comfort zone ] space Bologna by charme, an important local service.
The 5-star Majestic takes an active part in the cultural life of this dynamic city: it is a partner of the Teatro Comunale, which stages a packed programme of classical music and opera. Housed as it is in a historical building next door to Palazzo Fava, it is also included in the Genius Bononia, network of restored palazzi and museums open to the public.
The nearby Cineteca di Bologna, one of the most important film libraries in Europe, is a partner of the Majestic, and together they organise exhibitions and events dedicated to the history of cinema. As a result, the hotel is the Bolognese “home from home” for leading lights of the film industry from Italy to Hollywood in town for events and for the “Sotto le stelle del Cinema” festival: one such is director Martin Scorsese, who stayed here in 2018.
One of the experiences the Majestic lays on for its guests is a shopping tour – accompanied by a personal shopper – in the Galleria Cavour, one of the most elegant sites in the heart of Bologna. An opportunity to buy clothes and accessories in boutiques and shops housed in old historical palazzi.
