Italian Historic Venues Day 2022
To mark Italy’s National Day of Historic Venues on 1 October 2022, the Grand Hotel Majestic "già Baglioni" is opening its doors for a guided tour.
Marinetti, Balla, Russolo, Boccioni and Carrà, the leading figures of Futurism, were here on 20 January 1914 in a hall to offer clarifications and discuss duels, following the controversial meeting at the University where they accused Bolognese culture of being “professorial mould”. A luxurious monument to hospitality, housed in the building that was once the Archiepiscopal Seminary, amidst marble and stucco, it has welcomed Sinatra and Gardner, kings and queens, the House of Savoy, Lady Diana and Loren. The splendid 16th-century frescoes by the Carracci are a must-see: “ The Myth of Europa and Zeus’ on the coffered ceiling of the ‘Camerino di Europa’ room and ‘The Fall of Phaeton’ on that of the elegant ‘I Carracci’ restaurant.
Tour duration: 75 minutes.
The cost of the tour is €18.00 per person.
Payment in cash on site.
